We hold two Garden Competitions throughout July – the Nursery & Primary School Garden Competition and the Ransoms All Island Garden Competition.

 

Nursery & Primary School Garden Competition

The first Garden Competition is between all the Nursery and Primary Schools who are invited to enter this competition. This is kindly sponsored by Le Quesne’s Garden Centre and there are lots of prizes and trophies to be won. There are 3 categories of classes to enter being: Patio or Courtyard type garden of any size; Wildlife or Environmentally Friendly garden of any size and Vegetable Garden of any size – one class each for Nursery or Primary School. The Judges will come and visit your garden on set days and give it a score compared to the other School or Nursery gardens. The score is out of 100 and points are allocated for general appearance, cultivation and layout.

 

Ransoms All Island Garden Competition

The Ransoms All Island Garden Competition is open to anyone and everyone and is for owners of gardens Island wide to join in the competition and show off their gardens at their best. There is a class for everyone, however big or small, manicured or wild your garden is plus lots of trophies to be won and vouchers kindly donated by Ransoms Garden Centre for each class plus all entrants will receive a Ransoms 10% discount voucher.

Judging of the gardens and allotments will take place over 3 days and they judges will come and visit your garden with the Horticultural Secretary on set days to give it a score compared to other gardens/allotments entered in the same class.  The score is out of 100 and points will be allocated for general appearance, cultivation and layout.  All entrants will be notified of the date and time for the judging once all the entries have been received after the closing date.

Garden owners will be given two minutes to introduce their garden or allotment if they wish before the judging commences.  Owners should then remain with the Horticultural Secretary whilst their garden or allotment is being judged.
